National flower is the symbol of a nation’ freedom and liberty like many other nations of the world. We, too, have a national flower. Our national flower is the water lily, which is called shapla in Bangla. This is very well known in Bangladesh. Everybody knows this flower. It is found all over the country, in fresh water ponds and pools. We have two coloured shapla- white and red. The white shapla has been chosen as our national flower. The flowers bloom all the year round but more profusely in the rainy season. When the leaves of ‘shapla’ float on the surface of water. It looks realy very nice. This is quite adjusted with the natural scenery of Bangladesh. So we are reality proud of our National flower.
